Work on all aspects of the garden are forging ahead and a mock-up of the bespoke stone wall is looking fantastic. The graceful sweeps are a triumph and the quality and workmanship looks truly wonderful, which is a credit to Mathew Haslam and his team at Hardscape. Construction commences on Wednesday 30th with an 18 day build for which I have every confidence within my superb devoted team
The bespoke metal arches in the making- thanks to PCT Engineering and Fountains and Features- all coming together. We also look forward to working along side these guys again. Well done to Tony and his team and to the double Andy’s from Fountains and Features
The floating hard wood steps being prepared by Carpentry specialists Hartwood Joinery, which are looking fantastic.
Well done guys.
Bartholomew Landscaping will be teaming up with Stoke-on-Trent again to create one of the top 12 showcase gardens at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, the prestigious horticultural annual event.
The 2014 RHS Chelsea show garden “Positively Stoke-on-Trent” is being designed and built by top London based company Bartholomew Landscaping in partnership with Stoke-on-Trent City Council – the same team that delivered last year’s roaring success, winning a Silver medal on their debut with their ‘Transformation garden’.
The “Positively Stoke-on-Trent” garden will represent a city with a new clarity of purpose and new sources of energy. The garden’s clear lines, circuits, solar panels and high-tech materials, reflect the technological revolution. The glass pavilion reflects water, earth and air: the city’s emerging sustainable energy ambitions. The planting is inspired by nature’s re-colonisation of Stoke-on-Trent, reconnecting the city to nature and will convey the message that Stoke-on-Trent is a dynamic and creative place of opportunity for all.
Barry Burrows, Managing director of Bartholomew Landscaping comments: “I am thrilled that Bartholomew Landscaping are back at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show for 2014 creating the Positively Stoke-on-Trent Garden. To scale the horticultural peak that is Chelsea with a superb and dedicated team behind me is one of gardening’s great challenges and one we are fully embracing in 2014. We are going for gold!”
A significant garden trend is for outdoor kitchens including BBQ / hot plate / rotisserie with either corian or granite surfacing, as these are both manipulable and excellent for external use. Built in wine chiller, stainless steel or moulded sink unit with hot and cold running water(ensure all pipes are lagged) Don’t forget to include a refuse area. Outdoor heating and table centred fire-pits are also very popular.
Select an area close to where you will entertaining i.e.: the main patio / dinning space, although not too far from the house as you don’t want to be tracing back and fourth for the initial set up and essential supplies. Ensure all services such as gas, electrics and plumbing are all in place prior to any installation. Always appoint qualified and registered fitters. Overhead directional lighting should also be considered, as you don’t want to be cooking in the dark. [Read more…]
