Over more than three decades, Bartholomew has delivered carefully considered landscapes for private homes and architectural projects across London and the South East, combining design, construction and long-term care within one integrated team.

Our approach

At Bartholomew, every project begins with careful observation. We study architecture, light, movement, materials and the natural character of a site before shaping a landscape around it. Rather than imposing a fixed style, our gardens are tailored to the property and the people who live there, creating outdoor spaces that feel calm, coherent and lasting.

What makes us different

We are an experienced multidisciplinary practice with design, construction and aftercare all under one roof.

We’re often asked to deliver projects where the technical challenges are as important as the design itself. From constrained urban sites and complex basement developments to roof terraces and listed properties, we enjoy finding practical, well-considered solutions. The more demanding the brief, the more our multidisciplinary team comes into its own.

As a Landscape Institute Registered Practice, we bring continuity from technical design and construction through to long-term aftercare, ensuring every landscape is carefully considered, expertly delivered and thoughtfully managed as it matures.

From concept to completion

Bartholomew combines landscape design, construction and long-term maintenance within one integrated practice, allowing projects to move seamlessly from early concepts through to delivery and ongoing care.

Understanding the property, architecture, lifestyle requirements and long-term ambitions for the landscape.

Site Analysis

Reviewing aspect, circulation, levels, materials, planting conditions and the wider setting of the site.

Concept Design

Developing spatial layouts, material direction and planting approaches through collaborative discussion and refinement.

Detailed Design

Preparing technical drawings, specifications and coordinated design information for construction.

Construction Delivery

Working closely with Bartholomew’s in-house construction teams to ensure careful execution and continuity throughout the build.

Aftercare & Maintenance

Long-term horticultural care and seasonal maintenance designed to support the health, structure and character of the landscape over time.
