The original brief was to create a private landscaped garden for this elegant manor house overlooking Hampstead heath. A series of beautiful spaces were created; each having an individual character using natural materials, sculpture and planting. Areas can be used for formal dining, comfortable seating, entertaining and quiet contemplation.

As the gardens developed and matured our artistic clients purchased the adjacent cottage and we had a new challenge to link the house to the newly purchased property that was located at a higher level than the original Manor House.

The brief for the new design was to create a seamless integration and to maintain the elements of surprise and interest for the artistic clients. We merged the two gardens with a fabulous staircase and bank of Rhododendrons and azaleas the new gardens included hidden seating areas, an Artist’s studio, bespoke storage and an elegant rose arch / arbour to be discovered as the garden was explored. Recycled brick paving was combined with cobble mosaics and reclaimed stone to give the gardens instant maturity and complement the beautiful property. A fabulous rill was created from a solid stone channel rescued from a demolished church the rill runs from the cottage to a fabulous stone bowl.

We enjoyed working very closely with our clients who were very involved in their garden during the whole design and build process. They loved to buy beautiful antiques, furniture, sculpture and vintage plant pots that were all carefully planted and positioned to ensure that the garden has interest and colour all year round.
