Large Private Gardens

Our clients at Stormont Road had a potentially fabulous garden designed by landscape architects Del Buono Gazerwitz. The property was a new build with a very large basement, and a swimming pool and cinema room that extended under the substantial gardens. Unfortunately, there were significant problems with water ingress into the property and landscape works had not been fully completed. There were also problems with poor drainage under the lawns and planting beds. We were approached to see if they could help rectify the situation.

Working closely with the clients’ building surveyors, we began investigations. They were carried out by carefully excavating the planted areas to expose areas of the underground basement roof to allow a full inspection and assessment to be made. It was decided that the waterproofing that had been installed was failing and that it needed to be totally renewed. A method statement was prepared and it concluded that it was not possible to expose the whole basement roof in one go. It was decided that a phased programme of fibreglassing separate areas was the best solution.

Our team of project managers and skilled craftsmen carefully lifted all of the paving and topsoil from the planting beds and cleaned the areas for the fibreglassing team to apply their finishes. Each area was then inspected by the surveyors prior to the careful reinstatement of the finished garden. The water feature, walls, stairs and paving to the lightwell were also totally refurbished. A completely new drainage system and irrigation were installed before the planting was completed and the lawns renewed.

The clients were so impressed with the quality of the finish of the completed rear garden that they decided to refurbish the front gardens to the same high standards.
