Large Private Gardens

Having spent a number of years improving their property, our clients decided that their garden required a total redesign. We were chosen as they have worked on a number of successful projects in Hampstead, and are on the Hampstead Garden Suburb Trusts approved list of contractors. The plans and drawings of the gardens were submitted to the trust for their approval.

The brief was to create a feeling of space and to ensure that the whole garden was usable for the whole family throughout the year. We designed and constructed the gardens to reflect the traditional architecture whilst still maintaining a contemporary feel. Only the highest quality materials have been used throughout.

In the front garden, the original path and paving were realigned with formal lawns and a secluded seating area located in the shade of an existing tree that also provides an important focal point enhancing the space.

The rear garden had to provide for entertaining as well as relaxing. Access needed to be maintained to the end of the garden where off-street parking for three cars and the garage were located. The drive was also used for basketball and winter play.

We proposed an elegant square patio, with a hardwood gazebo spanning, comfortable seating as a focal point at the end of the garden, and the trampoline was repositioned to a quiet corner that nestles behind retained planting enhanced with bamboo to help screen this area from the property. A generous terrace has been located close to the house that is used as a dining area close to the kitchen.

The existing boundary treatments were retained as a requirement of the trust and privacy was improved by the installation of bespoke trellis panels and evergreen trees and shrub planting. The planting provides year-round interest. Dense evergreen hedging is used to provide additional privacy while, at the rear, clipped box hedges frame flowering borders and seasonal bedding and herbaceous planting provide contrasting foliage, texture and flower.

A controllable lighting system was installed to enhance the overall effect and create varying lighting moods throughout the garden.
